Who
Moved My Cheese?
Author: Dr. Spencer Johnson (best-selling co-author of The
One Minute Manager)
Publisher: Vermilion, London. 2000
Review:
A healthy dose of reality disguised as a simple but profound parable.
Should be read by anyone concerned with or affected by change. Applies
equally to business or personal life.
This gem is a very easy read. Even children love it! An hour from
cover to cover, this amusing and revealing tale teaches us how to
deal with change. It shows how we get stuck in an untenable position
and, more importantly, how we can move on and adapt to change quickly
- again and again.
Leave a copy of this book lying around the office - it's sure to
create a buzz as people identify themselves (and especially their
colleagues) in the characters!

Eats, Shoots &
Leaves
Author: Lynne Truss (writer, broadcaster - BBC
Radio 4, Columnist of the Year)
Publisher: Profile Books Ltd., London. 2003
A panda walks into a café. He orders a sandwich, eats
it, then draws a gun and fires two shots in the air.
"Why?"
asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes towards the exit. The
panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it
over his shoulder.
"I'm a panda," he says, at the door, "Look it up."
The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an
explanation:
"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China.
Eats, shoots and leaves.".
Review:
"Sticklers unite" is Lynne Truss's rallying cry to those
of you who know your punctuation and use it. A zippy, zero-tolerance
guide to the omission and misuse of commas, full stops, question
marks, apostrophes and the like. This book was a best-seller during
Christmas 2003.
If the
use of "its" or "it's" gives you grief. If you're
sick of misplaced apostrophe's speckling your business reports.
If the sandwiche's in your canteen don't pass muster. Then this
entertaining book will amuse and enlighten you.
